Sound Construction is owned and operated by Joe LaChaussee and Adam Lidral. Joe and Adam are long time residence of South Whidbey Island and have a combined experience of more than 50 years in the construction industry.

Sound Construction not only met my building expectations...they greatly exceeded them. Joe and Adam and their crew built our beach house on Mutiny Bay two years ago. It is a two-story 2,500 sq. ft. home right on the beach. We are very satisfied with the quality of the construction and we found Joe and Adam to be very good to work with. They kept us informed of the progress of the project along the way and there were no big surprises. They have been also very responsive in taking care of the few minor details that have needed some attention after the project was completed.
In 2010, when we first moved to the Island and bought a cabin on the beach with the intention of adding a second story; we interviewed four Contractors, all who had been recommended to us. After a few phone calls, we quickly narrowed the list down to two. I called references on both and Sound without question, had the most glowing testimonials. My inner voice shouted at me to go with Sound. However, my friend and also our realtor convinced me to go with his relative, who had built many high-end homes on the Island. This turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made. The final cost turned out to be almost 80% over what the Contractor’s estimate. Yep, you read it right. Suffice to say, it was a run-away disaster and this huge overage came right out of my retirement funds.
When two years later, we decided to add on a garage and apartment; there was no question who our Contractor was going to be – Sound Construction. No way would I make the same mistake again. Sound built our garage/apartment add-on in record time and right on budget.
A few years later, we decided to move and we bought an older house on a different part of the beach, knowing we would tear it down and build once again. Call us either stupid or courageous, but truth be told, this time we weren’t worried whatsoever. We knew we could count on Adam and Joe to build our new house.
The old house was torn down in late October of 2017 and we moved into our brand new 3500 square foot home on Mutiny Bay barely ten months later, in mid-August, 2018. Our house is absolutely beautiful and the final cost was very close to the original estimate and our budget.
Our punch list was surprisingly minimal and Sound completed this ambitious project right on time. Once again, we are extremely grateful to Adam and Joe and the great crew at Sound. If you are thinking of building or remodeling, hiring Sound as your Contractor is an absolute no-brainer. Adam and Joe, are gentlemen of the highest integrity – total straight-shooters, not to mention among the nicest guys around. They really care about building you the home of your dreams. And the Sound crew members as well as the Sound subs are all top-notch.
My advice is run, don’t walk to hire Sound Construction. It will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. I only wish we had hired them the first time around. If we can answer any questions or show you around our beautiful new home, it would be our great pleasure to do so.
